Thursday May 8th – Sculpture: Figures & Animals

In this hands-on workshop, participants will sculpt both animals and human figures from a solid block of clay, experimenting with form and proportion to bring movement and expression to their work. They will explore various sculpting techniques while following the complete ceramic process, focusing on developing essential skills such as shaping, joining, cutting, scooping, and applying textures to create unique surfaces. Participants will also learn how to prepare their pieces for firing.

You are encouraged to bring reference images for inspiration. Finished pieces will be fired and ready for collection in approximately four weeks.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced students.

All materials and firing are included in the price.

Thursday June 5th – Sculpture: Still Life

This workshop explores the classic genre of still life in sculpture. Participants will use clay to shape, carve, and assemble forms, creating still life compositions that can be either purely artistic or functional. Through careful attention to detail, texture, and proportion, you’ll learn how to bring everyday objects to life in three-dimensional form.

For those who attended the May 8th workshop, this session also offers an opportunity to apply ceramic paints and glazes to your previous work, with a second firing included at no extra cost.

All finished pieces will be available for collection in approximately four weeks.

Thursday July 10th – Sculpture: Relief and Narrative Scenes

Relief sculpture bridges the worlds of painting and sculpture, offering a unique opportunity to create dimensional storytelling. In this workshop, participants will sculpt in clay to translate two-dimensional images into sculptural form, using depth, layering, and texture to enhance visual impact. Participants will learn techniques for refining shapes, creating contrast, and adding intricate details to their relief compositions.

Bring reference images for inspiration—whether paintings, landscapes, still life, or personal photographs—to help shape your design.

Attendees of previous workshops (May 8th or June 5th) may also apply ceramic paints and glazes to their earlier sculptures before a second firing, free of charge.

Completed works will be ready for collection in four weeks.
